In
February, within the framework of the BRAT project, 9 operators working in the
Transit and Reception facilities in Bihac, Sarajevo and Tuzla participated in a
Study Visit to the Italian city of Trieste. The participants had the
opportunity to visit key structures of the reception system in the city, such
as the San Martino al Campo Daily Center, the Caritas-run Dormitory and Casa
Malala ICS.
Thanks to
the support of Fondazione Caritas Trieste, the team was able to exchange
valuable information and discuss practices about community-based service for
People on the Move with the local staff.
Finally,
the team had an extremely motivating meeting with the NGO IRC (International
Rescue Committee). The Street Units of IRC are active in Trieste’s Piazza della
Libertà, as well as in the “Silos”, symbolic gathering places for migrants in
transit along the Balkan Route.
