Sport unites, sport makes us friends! ⚽
Caritas is dedicated to creating opportunities to get together through sports, exactly in those places where dialogue is a challenge.
This is what happened in Hadzici, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, not far from Sarajevo, where two transit camps host migrants from the Balkan route.
In collaboration with the Municipality of Hadžići, Caritas Italiana has opened, in that same community, an inclusive playground where local kids and migrants can play together breaking down prejudices and fears.
The opening event has been enriched by the presence of JRS BiH and Musicians Without Borders, whose lively music created an atmosphere of joy and integration.
With the occasion, thanks to the support of Caritas Bosnia and Herzegovina and the contribution of Fudbal club Respekt and IOM Bosnia and Herzegovina, a football tournament was also organized, where the ball was not the only one kicked, but also all gender and migrant stereotypes. Children and youth from the Hadzici and migrant community gave us an example of how a society can be more inclusive, without divisions and preconceptions.
All this was possible thanks to the project #BRAT: Balkan Route – Accoglienza in Transit, funded by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development.
