What we do: 

Association “HO International forum of solidarity-Emmaus” (IFS-EMMAUS) is a local NGO established in 1999 with the aim of providing assistance to vulnerable population groups. IFS-EMMAUS operates on the territory of all country since it numbers 260 employees, 50 active volunteers and network of offices in Doboj lstok, Sarajevo, Srebrenica, Velika Kladuša and Mostar. It represents one of the biggest auto sufficient NGOs in the country and wider. 

Some of the projects that IFS-EMMAUS implements are: Reception Centre Duje in Doboj lstok (430), monthly scholarships for children without one or both parents across Bosnia and Herzegovina, scholarships for children in Burkina Faso, Boarding school for children of Srebrenica in Potocari and Daily centres in Srebrenica and Zvornik. Among other projects, IFS-EMMAUS runs a soup kitchen in Doboj where 230 meals are prepared on daily basis and assists the victims of human trafficking and illegal migrants. In addition, it participates in projects related to prevention of children abuse through information and communication technologies, it offers services to the elderly in the communities and implements projects of assisted social accommodation and for homeless youth through football. 

BRAT Activities: 

Emmaus, as a partner in the project, is responsible for the work of the Day Center for People on the Move, which is located in Velika Kladuša. 

The daycare center is a “Safe Place” for people on the move, where they can socialize, attend workshops, charge their phones, get clothes and shoes, and have a  hot meal to rest and prepare for the journey ahead. 

In the daily center, there is a common area for socializing with a kitchenette, as well as a separate area for children; there are also 3 showers for showering. 

In the period of the next 3 years, Emmaus will be responsible for organizing 2 sports, 2 culinary, and 1 cultural event in the area of Tuzla to improve the perception of the local population towards the migrant population through social gatherings. 

Also, as part of improving and bringing together the migrant and the local populations, Emmaus decided to reconstruct the children’s playground located in Tuzla, more precisely Miladije , near 2 schools, which would serve the local population as well as people on the move.  

From the beginning of the second year of the project, the distribution of one meal a day for 10 socially vulnerable people in the area of Tuzla will be implemented as well. 

The association will also in charge of organizing meetings with local authorities, as well as helping during the organization and attending trainings as part of the project.
