Mission and Vision: 

The mission of Caritas Italiana is to: 

• Collaborate with the Bishops in promoting charity and the duty to translate it into concrete actions; 
• Take care of the coordination of initiatives and services inspired by Christianity; 
• Organise, promote and coordinate emergency interventions in Italy and abroad; 
• Carry out studies and research on needs to help discover their causes; 
• Promote voluntary work and encourage the training of pastoral and social workers; 
• Contribute to the human and social development of the countries of the South of the world also through raising public awareness. 

The vision: 

Caritas Italiana is the pastoral body of the CEI (Italian Episcopal Conference) for the promotion of charity. Its vision promotes the solidarity in the Italian ecclesial communities, according to the needs and the times, in the perspective of the integral development of the human being, of the social justice and of the peace, with particular attention to the most vulnerable and with a prevalent pedagogical function, as stated in the  (ART Article number .1 of the Statute. )

Macro-areas in which Caritas Italiana intervenes in Italy and in the whole world concern: promotion Caritas, human promotion, development micro-projects, globality and peace, migration, Caritas young, initiatives Caritas Italiana. 

BRAT Activities: 

Caritas Italiana in BRAT is one of the ATS founders and partners.  

Caritas Italiana implements the following activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina: 

1. Educational program about migration policies and community based community-based services for migrants (organization and implementation of Trainings for project staff who works with migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina; and Study Visits in Italy), including the creation of a Manual at the end of the program; 
2. Creation of the Standardized Operational Procedures for the following services in migration: Safe Houses, Daily Centers, Social Corners; 
3. Advocacy and networking initiatives related to migration and community based services; 
4. Initiatives for promoting the mutual knowledge between migrants and local communities (concert, MasterChef, sports tournament, and artistic exhibition); 
5. Awareness campaigns about migration (exhibitions in collaboration with the “War Childhood Museum”); 
6. Initiatives supporting the local communities in need (rebuilding a playground and, providing meals to vulnerable people of local community).
